The magic of reading!

"What an astonishing thing a book is. It's a flat object made from a tree with flexible parts on which are imprinted lots of funny dark squiggles. But one glance at it and you're inside the mind of another person, maybe somebody dead for thousands of years. Across the millennia, an author is speaking clearly and silently inside your head, directly to you. Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people who never knew each other, citizens of distant epochs. Books break the shackles of time. A book is proof that humans are capable of working magic."

Carl Sagan

This is so very true. A couple of weeks ago I listened to an interview with a lady called Nancy Sleeth. She has written a book called "Almost Amish". This morning my mail lady popped a parcel in my postbox. What a joy it is to receive a book in the mail. Yes, here was the book I had ordered awhile back and I am itching to open it. Alas today is Monday and my day to clean my home so "Almost Amish" will have to wait till later in the day when I will sit on my verandah with a nice cup of tea and enjoy the beginning of one woman's quest for a slower, simpler, more sustainable life.
Blessings Gail

Books are one of my delights! I am able to read in two languages...so it is double the enjoyment :)
